Was Idol Bon Jovi Up to Idol Standards?

The all-out music spectacle that is American Idol has ensnared Bon Jovi, even though frontman Jon Bon Jovi admits he had never seen the show before a few weeks ago.  It's good to know that no matter how ginormous JBJ's hair was/is, American Idol is bigger.  And, perhaps, better.

"About whether or not Bon Jovi would have made it to Hollywood if he had auditioned for AI, he admitted, 'If I had gone through the process of American Idol at that age and that time in my life, I would never have gotten to Hollywood!'"

Of course it's debatable if Bon Jovi actually has "made it" to Hollywood, especially after this contribution to classic film.  What is not debatable is the anguish that bandmate Richie Sambora feels after having lost TV vixen and wife of 11 years, Heather Locklear.

"Bon Jovi said that some of the songs on the new album, Lost Highway out this June, are about ... Sambora’s divorce from Heather Locklear."

Maybe the Locklear-less Bon Jovi will revisit the lyrical craftiness of Slippery When Wet, on which JBJ gives such love advice as, "We've got to hold on to what we've got/'Cause it doesn't make a difference if we make it or not."  Rocktations now appreciates the nonsensical nature of these lyrics, given that they came from an artist who doesn't think that he could have succeeded on the show that made Sanjaya famous.
