Courtney Love is the only person in America (besides perhaps Eddie Vedder) with a closet full of unwanted flannel that could be worth thousands of dollars. Not being the kind of person to simply take the decade-old, slightly used cotton plaids to the local Salvation Army store, Love has decided to auction off the extremely valuable grunge uniforms of her rock-visionary husband, the late Kurt Cobain.
"'My daughter doesn't need to inherit a giant ... bag full of flannel ... shirts,' says Love, former frontwoman of the rock band Hole. 'A sweater, a guitar and the lyrics to '[Smells Like] Teen Spirit' — that's what my daughter gets. And the rest of it we'll just ... sell.'"
Here's hoping that Courtney socks some cash from her wardrobe windfall under her plaid mattress, so that her daughter ends up with more than just a sweater, guitar and lyric sheet. No word yet as to whether Courtney or some other rock celebrity was tempted to smoke/huff the flannel remains of Kurt's closet.
